Dr. Rosemary Harkins

Veteran Scientist and Educator Advocate

Rosemary K. Harkins earned the doctorate degree in anatomical sciences (emphases in human anatomy with human dissection, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy) at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in Oklahoma City.  Immediately following graduation, she joined the OU College of Medicine faculty and later helped to establish the College of Allied Health (CAH) which offers baccalaureate degrees in clinical dietetics, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical technology, cytotechnology and the imaging fields of radiography, nuclear medicine, and sonography.  After 16 years on the faculty, she left OU as tenured Professor and Associate Dean to assume the deanship of the College of Health Sciences at Howard University in Washington, D. C.  Three years later, Rosemary returned to Oklahoma to join the faculty at Langston University (LU), Langston Oklahoma.  She is currently serving as an adjunct professor (teaching anatomy) in the Department of Chemistry and Biological Sciences at Oklahoma City Community College in Oklahoma City.  Dr. Harkins has 18 years of military experience, having served with the U.S. Army Reserve in the Army Medical Department (AMEDD).  She retired at the rank of Colonel and was classified as a Clinical Laboratory Officer.  She proudly served at Ft. Sill Army Hospital in Lawton, OK; Ft. Sam Houston Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D. C.
